Ancient litchi Road
The ancient litchi road originated in the Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty (742-756). In order to satisfy his favorite concubine Yuhuan's preference for fresh litchi, Emperor Xuanzong built a special post road for litchi transportation. This ancient road starts from Fu Zhou (now Fuling, Chongqing) and reaches Chang'an (today's Xi'an) via Ziwu road. At first, it was mainly used to transport litchi produced in Fu Zhou, and then gradually expanded into a trade channel, especially in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. "Chang'an looks back and Embroiders into piles. Thousands of gates open on the top of the mountain. The concubine laughs. No one knows it's litchi.". Du Mu of Tang Dynasty vividly reappears the historical scene of litchi road.
From the perspective of historical research, maduguan is the most important post station on this ancient litchi road. Langying post station was set up here in the ninth year of Tianbao of Tang Dynasty (AD 750).
At present, it is about 10 kilometers long in the ancient mountain. In May 2015, in order to better protect and utilize the ancient litchi Road, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Hubei provinces officially launched the joint declaration of "ancient litchi road" for world natural and cultural heritage.
